Setting up
Which phones does Kiddo Safe work on?
Android phones and tablets with Android 8.0 or newer. Check-in screenshots need Android 11 or newer, and Safe DNS needs Android 9 or newer. It doesn't work on iPhone.
Where do I install it?
On your kid's phone. You set it up there, and change rules later on the same phone with your parent PIN. There's no parent app for your own phone.
Why does Kiddo Safe need Accessibility?
It's how Kip sees which app is open and reads web addresses and words on pages, so he can block what you chose. Everything he sees stays on the phone. Every permission, explained.
Can I protect more than one kid?
Each phone is set up for one kid. To protect another kid, install Kiddo Safe on their phone too.
Your PIN
I forgot my PIN.
On the PIN screen, tap Forgot PIN. If you added an email, Kip sends a 6-digit code to it so you can set a new PIN. If you didn't add one, write to us at support@martai.in.
My kid keeps guessing the PIN.
After a few wrong tries Kiddo Safe makes them wait, and the wait gets longer each time. It keeps counting even if the phone restarts. You can change the PIN any time in Settings.
Rules
Does the adult content filter switch on SafeSearch?
No. It covers adult pages itself, in every browser and in-app browser. You can still turn on Google SafeSearch or YouTube Restricted Mode yourself if you'd like both.
Do Phone and Messages ever get blocked?
No. They always work and never count toward time limits.
What does my kid see when something's blocked?
Kip's screen, which says what happened in kind words, with a way back to the home screen. A grown-up can unlock with the PIN right there.
Are check-ins sent to me?
No. They're kept on your kid's phone, and you look at them there, behind your PIN. They switch themselves off after 3 days, and anything older than 3 days is deleted.
Troubleshooting
Kip stopped working.
Open Kiddo Safe and look at Home. Protection check-up says what's off, like a permission or a battery saver, and walks you through fixing it.
I got a new phone.
Install Kiddo Safe on the new phone and set it up again. Premium comes back from Google Play when you use the same Google account. Rules and screen time stay with the old phone.
How do I uninstall Kiddo Safe?
Turn off Uninstall protection in Kiddo Safe first (it needs your PIN), then uninstall it like any app. Uninstalling deletes everything Kiddo Safe kept on the phone.
