Every rule lives on your kid's phone, behind your parent PIN. Here's what each one does, and what your kid sees.
Choose how the phone works: Only apps I choose gives your kid a kids home screen with just the apps you allow, and Block apps I choose keeps their normal phone minus the apps you pick. Phone and Messages always work. You can also let an app in for a while or for good.

Anything newly installed waits until you say yes with your PIN.

Covers porn and other adult pages in every browser, and in the browsers inside apps like Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp and Snapchat. Kip checks web addresses, page titles and the words on a page, right on the phone. It doesn't switch on Google SafeSearch or YouTube Restricted Mode for you.

Block the websites and the words you choose, in every browser.
Your kid sees: The same kind cover as the adult content filter.
Kip walks you through setting Android's Private DNS to a family-safe DNS (Cloudflare for Families or AdGuard Family), which keeps adult sites out of every app, then locks the setting. Needs Android 9 or newer.
Your kid sees: Nothing new: adult sites just don't open.
Block YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, Stories and Search, and WhatsApp Status, while regular videos and chats keep working.
Your kid sees: Kip steps in on the feed and takes them back.
Only the YouTube channels you add will play.
Your kid sees: Kip's card on videos from other channels.
One daily time for each app, the same every day and fresh at midnight. Kip gives heads-ups as the time runs low. When it's used up, a grown-up can add 15 minutes, 30 minutes or an hour for today, with the PIN.

One bedtime window every night. The phone rests, calls and the night apps you pick keep working, and Settings and app installs stay locked until morning.
Your kid sees: “Good night, Leo”, with the time the phone wakes up.
How long each app was used each day, rebuilt from Android's own usage records, so nothing is lost if the phone restarts. Compare today with yesterday or last week.
Your kid sees: Their own screen time, from a chip by the clock on the kids home.
Kiddo Safe can't be deleted, switched off or force-stopped without your PIN. Kip guards App info, the permission screens in Settings, and Date and time.
Your kid sees: “Kip can't be removed. Only a grown-up can change this.”
Tells you if anything needs fixing, like a permission that was switched off or a battery saver that stops Kip, and walks you through it.
What Kip stopped in the last 7 days, newest first.
Up to every 30 minutes: a screenshot (when the screen is on, on Android 11 and newer), a one-minute sound recording and the location. Everything stays on your kid's phone. Check-ins switch themselves off after 3 days, and anything older than 3 days is deleted.
Your kid sees: A notification that stays on screen the whole time check-ins are on.
A button on the kids home screen that sends your kid's call for help to your number. It's coming in a later version.
A 4-digit PIN or a password, with a wait after wrong tries. Add an email and Kip can send you a code if you forget it.
